Roadrunner Redi-Mix Inc. recently put their new International HX trucks into service — not only to deliver concrete to their customers, but support two different causes at the same time. While to most companies, putting a new truck into service is a normal occurrence, Julie Villegas, President of Roadrunner Redi-Mix, has added a special feature to her new International HX units.

As one of the customers who attended Summit Truck Group’s HX ride and drive event in Albuquerque, New Mexico last fall, Julie was impressed with what she saw of this new International product. She started her business in 2006 with just 5 mixer trucks, and now personally manages a staff of 30+ employees and a fleet of 26 mixer trucks — including 23 Internationals. After seeing what the new HX could do, Julie knew she wanted to add them to her fleet, and was one of Summit’s first customers to order HX trucks.

Recognizing that her trucks are rolling billboards, Julie made the decision to not only promote her business, but support causes near and dear to her heart. Nine Roadrunner trucks are painted pink to bring awareness to breast cancer by proudly announcing support for the “Save the Boobies” cause. Drivers of the trucks also sport t‑shirts with the same tagline. Roadrunner Redi-Mix also has 2 trucks in their fleet painted purple and white to draw attention to the importance of Alzheimer’s research (Save the Memories). In addition, Julie donates a portion of her company’s proceeds to these two worthy causes.
