Summit Sponsors the MO State Skills USA Competition

Summit Truck Group and members of the Heartland International Dealers Association sponsored the chassis station for the Missouri State Skills USA competition held at State Technical College of Missouri Friday April 1st. Summit Truck Group was represented by Kansas City Service Manager Justin Perry, Memphis Lead Technician Dan Barton, and Service Trainer Jim Hinton. Bill Vanderfeltz represented Scheppers International Truck Centers, and Adam Gegg represented Weithop Truck sales.

Contestants cycled through ten stations testing and troubleshooting engines, electrical and electronics systems, and chassis/brake systems. Contestants also demonstrate skills in hydraulic systems, drivetrain systems , vehicle inspections, component ID, air-conditioning systems, general shop skills, and job interview skills. The Chassis Station challenged competitors with a written test, component ID, and brake chamber stroke measurement. 

26 Competitors had to win a regional qualifying event to be able to attend the state championship. The top two winners are eligible to attend the National Skills USA Competition June 23-24, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky.
